Resumo:
The process of thermal solar disinfection of water consists of raising the temperature
for enough period of time, using solar heating system. The solar system has been chosen due to its
physical characteristics, which enable greater heating in a lesser time. The purpose of using this
equipment was to have an ideal temperature capable of eliminating the biggest number of pathogens in
contaminated water. The aim of this assay was to consider a treatment of the water used in the
agriculture preventing from the use of chemical products in the purification. In order to determine the
system efficiency, the outflows and the water temperature to the entrance and exit from the equipment
were considered. The microbiological quality of treated and non-treated water from residuary water
samples were evaluated. Therefore, water to a temperature above 46°C presents absence of fecal and
total coliforms resulting in an efficient treatment.
