Resumo:
The correct sampling is prime for obtaining significant biological data for study of
agricultural and forestalls ecosystems. The present study had as objective the evaluation of samples
number and diagram pattern for collecting soil in order to monitor Meloidogyne sp. and Rotylenchulus
sp. population density in papaya (Carica papaya) field. Twenty samples per area were indicated for
both nematode genera, being recommended to collect the samples randomly, in parallel bars or in
diamond diagrams for Meloidogyne sp. and in parallel lines or bars for Rotylenchulus sp.
