Resumo:
The objective of this work was to evaluate the acting of two upflow anaerobic sludge blanket
reactors (UASB) in pilot scale with volumes of 908 L and 188 L, installed in series, fed with swine wastewater
with medium concentrations of total suspended solids (TSS) ranging of 2216 mg L-1 to 7131 mg L-1 and
submitted to hydraulic detention times (HDT) of 62.3 and 31.1 h, in the first reactor, and of 12.9 and 6.5 h, in the
second reactor. The removal efficienty of CDOtotal ranging from 74.0% to 89.6% in the Reactor 1 and of 34.3%
to 45.1% in the Reactor 2, resulting in average values from 86.6% to 93.1% the treatment system in two stage
with organic volumetric load (OVL) ranging from 3.40 to 14.44 kg CODtotal m-3 reactor d-1 in the Reactor 1.
For the removal of TSS efficiency they varied from 85.6 to 87.8% to the system of two stages treatment
anaerobic.
