Résumé:
This study was developed with the families of the Agreste Community located in the
municipality of Itaporanga, State of Paraíba. The work aimed the analysis of the social, economical,
technological and drought vulnerabilities, through the application of a questionnaires to the families,
and the establishment of the relationship between the vulnerabilities and land degradation. The results
for the social, economical, technological and drought vulnerabilities were, respectively, 48%, 79%,
58% and 60%, revealing that the area has a VERY HIGH index of vulnerabilities (> 45%), although
are presenting some less vulnerable families. With relation to the land degradation the results show
that it is resultant of not applications of ground conservation practices by the farmers; of the strong
socioeconomic limitations of the families; of the lack of a infrastructure of drought mitigation and of a
public polices adjusted for the coexistence with the semi-arid.
