SANTOS, Alexandro dos.
Resumen:
This text aims to analyze the discourses that circulated in the Pedagogical Institute Campinense
- CG, in the 1930s, addressing the implementation of the teaching of Physical Education in the
city of Campina Grande. Therefore, we used as a source of research the newspapers: A Uniäo
(1931), O Educador (1932), Brasil Novo (1931), revista de Ensino do Estado da Parai'ba (1932-
1937), e a revista Evolugäo (1931-1932), a publication of the Instituto Pedagögico Campinense
that circulated in the city between the years 1931 and 1932, focusing on its pages, the everyday
affairs of the Institute and topics related to politics, economy, hygiene, education and culture.
Some of the documentation is in Biblioteca Atila de Almeida (Campina Grande), Instituto
Pedagögico Campinense, Espago Cultural de Joäo Pessoa and Instituto Histörico e Geogräfico
da Paraiba. Discussions about the practices of Physical Education were based in the
historiography related to the topic, like Soares Junior (2011), in his studies on the teaching of
Hygiene and Physical Education in the city of Parahyba in the early twentieth Century, Parada
(2009), and Ghiraldelli Jr. (1991), which provide a better understanding about the
implementation of the teaching of Physical Education in Brazil. The theoretical-methodological
approach has relied on the approaches of a New Cultural History, from the discussions made
by the French philosopher Michel Foucault (2010) emphasizing the concepts of discourse and
discipline.
