Resumo:
In this study, we aim ai discussing the paths traveled by the pioneers of education in the
city of Serra Branca-PB, ffom 1942 to 1986. In our analyses, we realized initiallv as
was the relationship between the villagers and the parish priest, in Charge Joäo Marques
Pereira of education in the city. In the first chapter, we analyze the struggles of Creators
to be able to open a school in the municipality, the ways of educating, the reason for the
creation of the only cinema in the city and the deployment of the groups in the
countryside. In the second chapter, we discussed about the deployment of the first
schools, courses and the impact on the daily lives of students and teachers. Also in this
chapter, we discuss the intervention of political power in education and changes by
schools to resolve the financial problems. For aehievement of this research, we speak
with authors, like de Souza with their discussions about the history of Serra Branca-PB;
Pimentei and Aguilar that helped me to understand the difference between rural school
and field school, as well as the processes of implementation of these groups; Field that
discusses the training of workers, among others. We also had the essential collaboration
of the oral accounts of those who participated actively in the establishment of
educational institutions both in urban and in rural areas. Through their thoughts about
education and the creation of the groups, we reali zed that education w’as responsible for
social, economic and intellectual development in the municipality. We still had the
pleasure of reading the descriptions left by Canon John Majid who was the
"responsible" for the intense mobilization that culmmated with the construction of the
first school in the city.
