A bela rainha de Amarna: as representações de Nefertiti na obra “Akhenaton e Nefertiti” de Christian Jacq.

Abstract

The napoleonic expedition during the 18th century and the subsequent production about Ancient Egypt civilization aroused the curiosity of scholars and ordinary people over the following years. Among the cientific essays and fictional stories about the many aspects of this society, we highlight the production about personalities who starred important episodes throughout pharaonic history. The present paper aims to analyze the book Akhenaton & Nefertiti, by french egyptologist Christian Jacq, published in 1976. We will discuss the place given by the author to queen Nefertiti, who lived in 18th dinasty at the New Kingdom (1553-1535 b.c.a) as regards her influence on the Amama's religious reformation that took place during her husband reign.We will consider the context of the religious reformation and the role of women, specifically the egyptian queen, during this period.
