Résumé:
This paper analyzes the relationship between identity and difference and how it
contributes to define the Jews' feeling o f belongingness in the book Jewish Antiquity,
written by Flävio Josefo. The research articulates the debate taking the author’s
perspective on the narrated scene, considering his work as full o f idiosyncratic elements,
because he was Jewish. In this analysis, we dialogued with the theme o f identity
construction making a discursive analysis o f Jewish Antiquities by Flävio Josefo. In the
first part, we contextualized the author, his historiographical project and the Roman
society o f his time. We analyzed the method, from the long return to a "legendary time",
to explain the Jewish cosmogony and the creation o f their identity. Then, we try to see
which identities were presented in Jewish society in the first Century D.C., when Flävio
Josefo wrote his work. We analyzed the various parties in the Roman Judea, and discuss
about the Jewish society in a plural way.
