A vinda da família real ao Brasil na sétima arte: o filme Carlota Joaquina e a possibilidade da sua representação no ensino de história.

Abstract

Studies involving cinema has gained plenty ground in contemporary historiography, especially from the 70's on with the studies by Frenchman Marc Ferro. From Ferro on the cinema, up to him viewed suspiciously by historians, has been progressively accepted and used as object of study. This work aims to carry out a study on cinema, especially regarding its relationship with the practice of teaching history, reflecting upon the possibilities of using film as a tool for the teacher. The choice of subject was designed with the purpose of contributing to the historiographical production from the history-cinema theme. The problematized source is the film Caríota Joaquina, a princesa do Brazil, a production from 1995, directed by Carla Camurati. Based on the choice of the source, it is conducted a discussion on how the representation of the royal family coming to Brazil is addressed in the movie to analyze after that, the way in which this same event has been described in textbooks.
