As mulheres na escola politécnica da Paraíba: do atípico a conquista de um espaço (1952-1974)

Abstract

The Polytechnic School of Paraiba was the first institution of higher education in the city of Campina Grande. It was the embryo of the current Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG), founded in 1952, offered its facilities in the course of Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The creation and consolidation of Fligher Education School occurred in the construction of thought and modern city of imagination. The aim of this study is to research the history of women at the Polytechnic School of Paraiba, as these women placed themselves in a predominantly male space? What the difficulties faced this challenge? For this we use the methodology of Oral History and conducted interviews with former student (a) employees of the institution, along with a search in the Polytechnic School in this collection General UFCG File. From these sources we intend to investigate who were the first engineers formed this school, their difficulties to enter in the engineering space and the consequences of this achievement.
