Résumé:
All work needs to be performed in a healthy and safe manner, so that it can guarantee worker satisfaction and enable productivity in excellence. In traditional companies, the use of the set of technical measures that eliminate unsafe working conditions is mandatory and effective, but in the field there is no concern, which contributes to the existence of health problems for producers and their families. This study aimed to analyze occupational risks in family farming practices in the state of Paraíba. For this, a field study was carried out in the rural area of Pombal and Lagoa, where a semi-structured questionnaire was applied to obtain qualitative and quantitative data. It can be observed that the studied rural population is well diversified and has acted in the locality for long periods, being able to be considered traditional families in the region and that act in the production of diversified foodstuffs. It was also found that farmers are aware of the problems that work in the field can cause to their health, but they are not concerned about the frequent use of PPE during conventional work or during the application of pesticides, since they do not seek agricultural alternatives that reduce risks. It is necessary to rethink the practices adopted and seek a more effective follow-up by the public agencies of the sector and in higher education institutions, training the public and reducing the risks and thus contribute to the maintenance of the man in the field and his future generations.
