Abstract:
The slope classes and land uses and occupations constitute essential information for
environmental planning since they help solving problems caused by intensive activities such as
agriculture and livestock in areas of analysis. The objective of this study is to determine the slope
classes and land uses and occupations of a watershed through Geographical Information System. For
that reason, we used a digital cartographic base (scale 1:50000) and a cutting of scene of images
Landsat 7-ETM+, both based on georeferential in the system UTM-SAD 69. The slope classes were
obtained from the Land Numeric Model, elaborated through GIS, being used altimetric datas. The
classes of land uses and occupations were determined by the supervised classification of the image
Landsat 7-ETM+
, using GIS - Idrisi Kilimanjaro 14.01. The results show that in the area a soft relief
prevails the moderate wavy (80,41% of the area); concerning the use and occupation classes, the
predominant lands are of exposed soil (recently planted) and of annual cultivation representing
41,00% and 35,42%, respectively. The results have concluded that the relief is quite favorable to the
agricultural activities and that GIS made possible the construction of a database that can be for used
for decision making in the search of solutions of the problems and conflicts occurring in the
watershed.
