Resumen:
Leaf area index (LAI) is an important parameter of the vegetation canopy,
and is used, for instance, to estimate evapotranspiration and productivity. The main
objective of this work was analyzed the relationship between LAI and EVI and climatological
data in three periods. The study area was at the National Forest (FLONA) of Pacotuba, south of
Espírito Santo, Brazil. The vegetation indice used was EVI, product of sensor MODIS. The LAI
was collected by LAI-2000 equipment. The data EVI collected inside each parcel of FLONA
were affected for climatic factors as the Temperature and the Precipitation. It was verified that
56% of the variation of LAI can be explained by EVI. The vegetation indece EVI, product of
sensor MODIS, confirms the relationship that there are between variations of climatic
parameters and LAI.
