Abstract:
This paper reports an experience during the Institutional Program of Scholarships for Teaching Initiation - PIBID, applied at the Technical High School, located in the city of Cuité - PB, in the development of a project aimed at the systematization of experimental practical classes in Mathematics. In this research, one of the practices carried out will be specifically reported, from its initial construction, planning, structuring, testing until its application in a class of the 1st year of high school, under the observation of the teacher, considering the multiple difficulties presented by the students in the subject. The objective of this paper is to analyze the contributions and potentialities of the use of manipulative teaching materials in teaching and learning in experimental practical classes of mathematics for high school, using the Tower of Hanoi game. The research is of a qualitative and descriptive nature, since it considers the school environment as a fundamental source of data and the active participation of the researcher in the investigative process. Bibliographical references on mathematical modeling and manipulative materials were used to construct experimental classes, with the aim of bringing students closer to mathematical learning, strengthening practical classes and assisting teachers in their activities. In addition, the results demonstrate that PIBID has contributed significantly to future teachers' learning about teaching, by facilitating immersion in various teaching activities and initiation into research.
