Abstract:
Brazil's recent progress in the agroindustry has resulted in an increase in the use of
agricultural pesticides, generating a series of concerns and social issues linked to the
health and safety of the workers involved as these chemical substances have toxic
characteristics that can result in various consequences. The aim of this study is to
discuss the exploitation of agrochemicals in Brazil with a focus on health and safety
in the agro-industrial sector. The methodology applied was a bibliographic review
carried out through digital libraries (Scielo, PubMed and Scholar) using the following
terms: pesticides, occupational exposure to pesticides and risks and consequences
of pesticides. The theoretical data base was composed of 66 surveys. For the
Discussion section, 19 scientific articles published in journals between 2017 and
2024 were used as a source of debate. The results were obtained through the
analysis of the findings of the referenced authors and presented through discussion
of the data found in these literatures, which highlighted the risks that pesticides
present and the connection between occupational exposure and various
consequences for health, safety and environment.
