Resumo:
Sustainability has been a hotly debated topic these days, to the detriment of the various impacts
of human activities on the environment, making it urgent to rethink practices in different sectors
of society. Given the problem presented, the research aims to analyze the relevance of
environmental management and its contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
of the 2030 Agenda in rural schools in the municipality of Caridade, Ceará. The research
adopted an integrative approach, exploring data and concepts related to sustainability in the
rural educational context. The results indicate that the implementation of sustainable practices
in rural schools faces several challenges, such as the scarcity of financial resources, inadequate
infrastructure and the need for continuous training of teachers and managers to use
methodologies focused on sustainability. It is concluded that, despite the obstacles,
environmental management in schools can contribute significantly to the achievement of the
SDGs and to the formation of a school community that is more aware and engaged with
environmental issues, as long as there is investment and support to overcome these challenges.
