Determinação de propriedades físico-químicas de águas de cisternas da zona rural de Coronel Ezequiel-RN.

Abstract

This study analyzed the physical and chemical properties of water from cisterns located in the rural area of ​​Coronel Ezequiel, a municipality in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. The research aimed to evaluate the quality of water used for human consumption in a region where most residents use this type of reservoir. Samples were collected from different sources representative of the rural area, and the parameters analyzed were pH, turbidity, electrical conductivity, chlorides, total hardness and alkalinity. The data were compared with the parameters established by the National Water Agency (ANA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) for drinking water, in order to verify the suitability of the water for human consumption. The samples analyzed showed good potability for human consumption. Although cisterns represent an important alternative for water supply in rural areas, it is of fundamental importance to adopt monitoring and periodic maintenance practices to guarantee the potability of the water and the health of the local population.
