Résumé:
This work describes an experience in the implementation of a workshop entitled “Problem
Solving with a New Look’, which was part of an extension project developed in the
Mathematics Teaching through Problem Solving curricular component. The workshop was
conducted by future teachers of that subject, under the guidance of the teacher and used the
Problem Solving methodology, which is an effective approach in teaching Mathematics. This
work aims to present an experience in an extension project with the Problem Solving
Methodology addressing the area and perimeter contents. The experience was carried out with
basic education teachers and future teachers at the Federal University of Campina Grande –
Campus Cuité. For this workshop, two problems were proposed: the first involving perimeter
and the second area, following the steps of the RP methodology. With this, it was possible to
observe and discuss different resolution strategies and learn a little about the reality of the
professionals present. In view of all the stages of the workshop, it can be said that expectations
were successfully met, highlighting the importance of extension projects for the training of
future teachers. It is concluded that, given the participants' contributions, the workshop must be
expanded to other audiences and that the sharing provided through dialogue is fundamental for
teacher training. Furthermore, the university can provide more learning to teachers to contribute
to their training
