Résumé:
This paper reports on the experience of a workshop held during the Supervised Internship for Biological Sciences II (semester 2023.1) in the Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences at the Center for Education and Health (CES) of the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG), Cuité campus, Paraíba. The objective was to raise students' awareness about the proper disposal of household solid waste and the reuse of recyclable materials, using playful pedagogical methodology as a teaching-learning tool. The rationale lies in the fact that this methodology can be implemented in formal education settings, as well as the easy access to recyclable materials, facilitating the exchange of knowledge between students and interns. The activities were carried out at the José Eudenicio Correia Lins Municipal Elementary School, in the municipality of Barra de Santa Rosa - PB, from August 25, 2023 to October 20, 2023. A thematic workshop (PET bottle recycling) was held to promote teaching and learning in the Science subject. The experience yielded positive results, including the observation that students showed greater interest in the class topic and demonstrated their ability to work in groups. Furthermore, the students were receptive to the workshop approach, making it an interactive, dynamic, and highly engaging experience for all involved (intern, elementary students, elementary school teacher, professor, and undergraduate supervisor). We believe the experience raised students' awareness of the impacts of excessive waste on the environment and that learning can also be enjoyable and fun. It enhanced the students' knowledge, as they identified the alternatives and possibilities that pre-service teachers can pursue through theoretical and practical assignments.
