Résumé:
This work is a study of sugar-cane plantation labourer's life and job
conditions in the Swampy area of Paraiba. It's main purpose is to shwo the
premature destruction of labour power due to the explotation condition to which
these workers are subjected to and their absolute poverty. It is evalueted the
wages rise taking into consideration the losses and wages variation as variables
which related to the minimum supply necessary for survival demonstrate a closer
view of the sugar-cane plantation reality. We also stress women and children's
work in the plantation.
By doing this, we clearly explained the degrading condition of work and of
family reproduction which arc below the minimum biological conditions required
for a human being.
