Resumen:
This work has proposed to analyze, from a historical perspective, the letters of Lima Barreto with other intelletcuals, in republican Rio de Janeiro from early 20th century. Athwart the letters we seek to seize intellectual issues, policy and cultural questions that pass through the urban space and formulated ways to represent, to write and to publish in the Federal District. Through mediations with the bibliography, we search to understand how the work of Lima Barreto is articulated with the intelectual environment of his time, and how a parcel of historiography arranged concepts and interpretations about the historical moment. Noticing the looks and views released on modern guidelines, emerging both in urban space and language, developing close a few topics that are conducive to a better understanding of intellectual practice read in new ways of write and inscribe the city, starting from a careful reading of letters as object and discourse. The sources prioritized the correspondence of Lima Barreto with Monteiro Lobato, Antonio Noronha Santos, Francisco Schettino, among others writers, were also investigated oficial sources, literary, chronics that can elucidate the issues of strategies adopted by Lima Barreto in the city of letters mediated in epistolar practice, in their definitions, functions and atributes.
