Soil, a natural resource essential to life, is still little known by the population, a fact that may contribute to aggravate degradation due to misuse and inadequate management, by the adoption of aggressive systems present in conventional agriculture, which does not perceive the soil as a living organism, an understanding present in agroecology. As a vital resource, the soil needs to be recognized to continue exercising the numerous ecosystem services, indispensable for the maintenance of life. In the educational context, knowledge of the soil needs to be worked out in an easy-to-understand way and the playfulness can help to awaken the sense of belonging of the learners and stimulate the creativity and the concern in conserving this valuable resource, since the learning elaborated as a joke it becomes pleasurable and meaningful. In this sense, this work sought, through the theater of animated forms, to popularize some concepts about the soil. A puppet show was set up to discuss the concepts of soils and agroecology with the public. The activity happened for students of the Senador Paulo Guerra Rural School, of the Mandacaru Settlement, municipality of Sumé - PB. The methodology of the theater of animated forms as stimulator of the learning of the concepts was evaluated at the end of the show, in a circle of conversation with the spectators. The results evidenced that the students present demonstrated enthusiasm with the innovative practice and fixed some concepts worked and that the teachers perceived more easily to present new topics from the methodology for the interest of the students. It is concluded that the playful is really important strategy to encourage learning and that the use of the puppet show has proved very effective for the popularization of concepts on soil and agroecology.
