Abstract:
This current research aims to evaluate the impact caused by the Reading Project Biblioteca
Saudável: prática de leitura na Unidade Básica de Saúde Nilson José de Souza (Healthy
Library: reading practice in the Basic Unity of Health Nilson José de Souza), with the
community of Cristo, in Cajazeiras, Paraíba. The project‟s purpose is to bring informations to
supplement the given guidances during the procedures performed with users, in search of
medical, dental and nursing assistance. In the reading activities of the project, the most used
genre is the pamphlet. Because it is an instructive genre, it contains short informations,
objective and simple language, which is ideal to the project‟s goal, regarding the space and
time devoted to this practice. From the users' interests in obtaining information, it sought also
to list figures and these underlying issues to them, in an attempt to know among these
elements, which are those of greatest interest to users, as well as the receptivity of the project
by community. For this reason, a questionnaire was applied in order to collect data on the
most requested themes in discussions and collective readings, and also on the acceptance of
the project. Data were analyzed quantitatively through charts and qualitatively based on the
reading theories and discourse semantics of greimasian semiotics. The main reference sources
for this work are the approaches of Soares (2004, 2009) and Kleiman (1995, 2006, 2007),
Oliveira (2010), Freire (2008, 2013) and Silva (1981), concerning the text and the reading;
Marcuschi (2002, 2008) and Bakhtin (2003) on the genres; Castro (2013) and Cano (2010) on
the pamphlet; and Greimas (1979) on the discourse semantics. From the analysis, it was found
that through the participation and opinions of readers, the Reading Project obtained good
acceptance, was impressive, reaching its goal, raising citizens in their critical ability, as users
sought to take readings, seeking to know more about the problems surrounding, positively
changing their behavior, as well as it was possible to identify the most requested themes by
users.
