Resumo:
Brazil is in the process of aging, having already crossed the initial stages of the
epidemiological or demographic transition process, and in the case of some localized areas of more developed metropolitan regions, reached its final stage. The Federal Constitution of 1988 instituted the dignity of the human person as one of the foundations of the Federative Republic of Brazil and, in treating it in this way, the constituent, besides giving dignity to the people, imposed on the public power the duty of respect, protection and promotion of the means necessary for the attainment of a dignified life, including the elderly. Faced with this new scenario of inversion of the age pyramid, and in a context of human rights predominance, the promotion of human dignity of the elderly is
ndispensable. In this perspective, through the use of the hypothetical-deductive approach, the typological, functionalist and systemic procedures methods, and a theoretical-descriptive interpellation, with the accomplishment of bibliographical research, analysis of the Brazilian normalization and consultation of international diplomas, search In general, it will be analyzed the management of the integral protection of the elderly in the municipality of São José do Egito / PE and, specifically, verify how integral protection of the elderly functions as an instrument to guarantee the dignity of the human person, and to investigate the public policies of attention to the elderly in the municipality of São José do Egito / PE.
