Resumen:
Some historical reports prove the use of the flora about 3000 b.C, among the most diverse plants used stands out Arrabidaea chica, due to its therapeutic effects. Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic aims of the plant in order to promote its benefits and various uses, mainly in cancer therapy, promising to be an alternative method of easier access, besides the considerably lower cost. Methodology: This is an Integrative Review of Literature (IRL), with the theme "Medicinal effects of Arrabidaea chica", which had as its guiding research question: "What are the therapeutic purposes of Arrabidaea chica (Crajiru)? The Virtual Health Library (VHL), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO) and Public Medline or Publisher Medline (PUBMED) research platforms were used for the search. Results: The study was categorized into 8 categories, where the main one was the antioxidant effect, with 31.06% (n = 9). Due to crajiru, it has a very relevant antioxidant potential, mainly derived from the scutelarein and apigenin actives, and can be used in photoprotective formulations, which are attractive formulations for populations looking for products produced with natural ingredients. Conclusion: Several activities were applied to the plant regarding its therapeutic effects, such as antineoplastic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiulceronogenic, wound treatment, hepatic protection and antiprotozoal. These effects are due to the numerous active components present in its composition.
