Resumo:
This research work aims at analyzing and understanding the forms of conflicts and adaptation
as well as sociability experienced by students Vidal de Negreiros Agricultural School
(CAVN) in Bananeiras-PB. One tried to feature both social and geographical origin of young
students from CAVN, to identify the cultural manifestations of those students, their
differences toward strange people, and how they interact during the daily school activities.
Thus, we have taken into account the finding of existent differences between students from
countryside and those from the city, as well as the differences among students who are from
mesoregion Paraiba swamp, those from the interior of Paraiba state, and other states of Brazil.
The observed group was comprised by students aged between 14 and 23 years old, who seek
opportunities of professional qualification in technical fields. The research methodology was
carried out by utilizing both qualitative and quantitative procedures through cataloging of
individual records, observation of everyday activities and interviews. In the qualitative
analysis, the theories of Elias, Simmel, Bourdieu and Goffman have been utilized. Regarding
conclusions, it has been asserted that young people can live together with new alternatives
found within CAVN daily activities in a paradoxical way with reactions and acceptance of
new conditions of interaction. The relation interactions established during a period of
students' permanence in a school year occur in a context of institutional rules and their
noncompliance within a context of conflicts of several sorts, such as individual and the whole
group. These experiences are important to the development process of young citizens.
