Resumen:
In the present work, we seek to investigate the process of (re) construction of the
identities manipulated and / or elaborated by Serrotão penitentiaries in Campina
Grande-PB. During the investigation period, 27 prisoners were interviewed out of a total of 650
who were in prison. In addition to the interviews, we also sought to
elements of everyday prison life that could hardly have been
had made use of ethnographic research, with observations made not only
during "official" days for interviews, but mainly through visits
and informal conversations with the prisoners during the days when they could receive
friends and family. The analyzes carried out show that in addition to
dichotomies commonly used by inmates to define themselves as good or bad,
there is a set of self-defining references and identification of others that are
combined and used according to the situations experienced and in line with the
possible interests in each relational event.
