Resumen:
The present study aims to understand the process of insertion of women in the Military Police in the State of Paraíba, in addition to conducting an analysis of everyday practices and their gender relations within this corporation. For this, a qualitative research was carried out, under the light of the Discourse Analysis method based on the Foucaultian theory, using a questionnaire as a data collection technique applied to a sample of twelve military police women crowded in three battalions, three cities, of the State of Paraíba, namely João Pessoa, Campina Grande and Monteiro. Given the results, it was possible to consider that this is not a profession aimed directly at the objective of life, but mainly to provide financial stability for those who enter it. The data points to the existence of several obstacles that the woman faces in the exercise of her career from the time she began to join the Military Police until the last days. Be a military police woman according to this study that requires training, courage, discernment, security, calm, patience, among other diverse adjectives that are needed daily in the functions carried out in both ostensive and bureaucratic work for both men and women. However, women still argue, both materially and symbolically, with situations inherent in their status as a woman in a patriarchal society, especially in a predominantly male institution.
