Resumen:
Over the years, women have been fighting for their gender equality, aiming to achieve the
same rights that men have, especially since they are, in many societies, used as procreation and care for the chores of the home and children . In this perspective, the present work has the proposal to present how the woman progressed in the labor market in the city of Sumé-PB, as well as its longings and obstacles. For this purpose authors such as Rago (2014), Teles (1999), Vainsencher (2011) and others were used as theoretical basis. The starting point for situating the working woman is the report, published in Revista de circulación nacional, entitled "Beautiful, Reclaimed and From Home", which shows the life of First Lady Marcela Temer, as an example to be followed by the women. An example in which Marcela chooses to abandon her professional life, to personify the stereotype of mother-wife and housewife, living in the shadow of her husband, the current president Michel Temer. For that, a Descriptive Survey was carried out, with a qualitative approach and use of the Thematic Interview for Data Collection, with an Interview Questionnaire composed of 14 questions and applied to a sample of 10 women entering the labor market in the municipality of Sumé. Data analysis was anchored in Moscovici's Theory of Social Representations. The data obtained indicated that the women surveyed believed that women could perform double or triple function, associating housework with formal work, disagreeing with the model represented by Marcela Temer, even for the First Lady. On the other hand, the data also show that, even with
all the achievements women have achieved over time, women still have a lot to fit evenly into the society we live in. And that, although many women have already reached positions of trust by their merits, there is a great prejudice around us, based on machismo and patriarchalism.
