Abstract:
The insertion of the women in the job market made possible the exercise of new occupations of the productive sphere, as well as the occupation of positions in the public space. However, it has brought the accumulation of labor functions with social roles traditionally relegated to women as the care of family and home. Thus, it became a specific phenomenon of female dynamics in modernity the performance of double or triple working day. So, this work has the objective of analyzing the insertion and permanence of the working woman in Higher Education in the Western Cariri Paraíba and was developed by means of a descriptive research, with a qualitative approach that used the Oral History method to collect, treatment and data analysis. The research was carried out with eleven (11) women dwellers of the region of Cariri Paraiba and had as one of the main criteria of sample selection the fact of being or have been married, have children and work outside the home. The results obtained from the data show that is not an easy task for women to reconcile work, studies and household chores. However, that at the same time it’s not impossible. This work intends to reflect about the entrance of women into a higher education as a form of professional ascent and financial independence.
