Resumo:
This study aims to show which are the largest educational groups in Brazil and how they are responsible for controlling a large part of the educational institutions of private higher education in the country. We present in this work some groups from the higher education sector. We know that education is responsible for a great part of the intellectual development of people and of various sectors of society, but what few know is that education is currently one of the largest economic sectors in the world, already seen here in Brazil, the great investment made by the government through student financing programs, what has been contributing directly to the alarming growth of these institutions, proving this, the fact that Brazil is the largest educational group in the world. Through this research we will also show the huge difference between the number of students enrolled in public and private higher education institutions. Where in 2013, more than 75% of all undergraduates were in the private sector. The Ministry of Education published a decree, which expanded the offer of distance learning courses. With the new rule, higher education institutions will be able to attend the public exclusively to offer undergraduate and post-graduate courses in the distance modality, without the need to have face-to-face courses. From the adoption of the new measures we noticed that the private groups are the more favored by this change, since the public sector registered a decrease in enrollment and the private sector increased, reaching to grow 80% in enrollment in the modality a distance. We are going to observe the growth in the number of new Fies contracts between 2010 and 2014, this period registered an increase of more than 80% in the number of new enrollments. Another point that we will highlight are the acquisitions made by the educational groups. Highlighting, the merger between Kroton and Anhanguera in 2013, which resulted in the largest educational conglomerate in the world. Showing that the private initiative has made good use of and continues to take advantage of government transfers to increasingly monopolize the sector, linked to acquisitions and participation in the financial market, characterizing them as companies and students, their customers.
