Resumo:
The general objective of this research was to typologically and dimensionally
characterize the feeders and drinking fountains used in facilities for goats and propose
based on the results of the evaluations, a model that best suits the species in terms of
anatomical and comfort. The research was carried out through visits to goats from
municipalities belonging to the Paraíba mesoregions from October 2015 to June 2016.
Field activity questionnaires were applied to obtain and collect the data in 50 properties.
The typology and dimensions of feeders, drinking fountains, canzis, and the
morphometric characteristics of goats in the adult and young categories were evaluated.
The data were organized into Microsoft® Excel spreadsheets for the preparation of
tables, analyzed by the PROC UNIVARIATE program to calculate the means and the
standard deviation of the dimensions worked. The research concluded that: in the
surveyed properties there is no typological standardization of feeders and drinkers in
both construction and dimensional materials; Among the varieties of equipment used as
feeder and drinker were those made with wood and tires; The dimensions of feeders and
drinkers should be adopted on the basis of the morphometric measurements of the
animals; The feeders and drinkers observed in this research did not provide easy access
to the two groups of animal categories studied; The feeder and drinking trough models
proposed for goats are intended for semi-intensive and intensive systems, which were
sized based on the morphometric measurements of the animals surveyed.
