Resumo:
The Levante Popular da Juventude (LPJ) is a political group that has been standing out
in the troubled national political scene since 2013, acting as a leftist social movement
linked to the popular field and articulated in the Consulta Popular (CP). They have in
their framework political guidelines of horizontal demands: Against machismo, racism
and homophobia. They present characteristics of political sociabilities that value diverse
subjectivities and what they call the "politics of affection". These characteristics can be
found in the excessive esteem for affection, mysticism and agitation and propaganda
within this group. Thus, this work aims to understand the Levante Popular da Juventude
not only as a social movement or youth of a party, but to understand what aspects
expensive to the values of this group may indicate new political sociabilities or new
social phenomena. To do so, we used the qualitative methodology with field work,
consisting of non-participant observation and the use of semi-structured interviews,
during 2016/2017. The main hypothesis raised here is that the characteristics present in
the Levante Popular da Juventude, as appreciation of affection and mystic, indicate new
social phenomena observable through their political practices and sociabilities. We can
highlight as results of this research that the Levante Popular da Juventude, despite not
being part of a new political field, presents an adaptation of political practices to the
dimension of affection, categories such as project and popular power are understood
from their mystical character. The mystique is resignified bringing new elements to
think youth, as the interest in holistic issues. Affection functions as ethos for this
political group, being revolutionary because lived in the present and expressed through
everyday sociabilities. This characteristic makes the members of the LPJ cultivate a
political sociability that values the present, to the detriment of a rational political project
of the future.
