Resumo:
The object of study of this work is the performance of the pedagogue in the hospital scope, its
general objective is to analyze the contributions of the pedagogue in this non-school space.
Regarding the methodological course, this research was developed during the validity of the
extension project "Teaching-service integration in the humanization of the care of hospitalized
children and adolescents", consisted of two stages, a bibliographical survey and a field research,
of the type study of In this case, the locus of the research was the University Hospital Júlio
Bandeira (HUJB), the subjects of the research were children and adolescents attended at HUJB,
the instruments of data collection were the participant observation and the field diary, the
approach was of the qualitative type . Regarding the results, the information registered here due
to the participation in the extension project, show the importance of the pedagogical practices
in the hospital, as actions that contribute positively to the development process of children and
adolescents hospitalized. Through this research, we have reiterated the relevant work that the
pedagogue accomplishes in favor of the integral formation of the hospitalized subject. This
professional performs an educational practice focused on the cognitive development of children
and adolescents, in addition to being intrinsically linked to the affectivity and sensitivity of the
emotional state in which the patient is. Because of these delicate factors inherent to the
hospitalization process, the pedagogue to act in this area needs continuous training to meet the
needs, abilities and potentialities of each hospitalized subject.
