Resumo:
The theme of this article is justified by the fact that it is common in our daily life to relate
Financial Education directly to financial situations in which it requires adequate and
conscious decision making. Faced with this, we have as a fundamental question: What is the
view of primary school teachers about the importance of Financial Education today? In this
sense, the need arose to research and reflect on this topic nowadays, but a teaching focused on
a critical eye, where the theme Financial Education is worked in order to lead the students to
question facts of their daily life. From the question proposed for this study we outline the
general objective to understand the teachers' perceptions about the importance of Financial
Education in the present time. In this work, we use works with a similar approach and official
education documents as National Curricular Guidelines, National Curricular Parameters for
Elementary Education and Complementary Educational Guidelines to National Curricular
Parameters. We did a qualitative research, developed with two teachers of the final years of
elementary school in the city of Monteiro in Cariri Paraibano. As for the procedures, the data
collection was done through a questionnaire, composed of ten questions. In our work we seek
to show that Financial Education is not simply operational, we believe that subjects related to
it can contribute to critical mathematical formation of students, promoting reflections in their
daily lives not only when faced with financial procedures but with social, political , economic,
among others, since Financial Education is not limited to finances.
