Résumé:
This work originates from a theoretical-practical motivation resulting from the teaching work
developed at a Field School, located in the settlement Zé Marcolino, Rural Community
Lajinha-Prata-Paraíba, and from theoretical reflections developed in the living with the
Semiarid Specialization Course of Science and Mathematics Teaching from UFCG Semiarid
Sustainable Development Center. The research problem was raised by the educational practice
developed in the School with subjects, activities and actions related to technologies of living
with semiarid, in relation to cultivation, creation, extractivism and processing of products.
The central question of the research was: how do these practices contribute to students and
their families having another look about living with semiarid? It had as general objective:
understand which the perception of students, families and settlers is, about the productive
practices developed by the School. The qualitative approach in a participatory research
perspective, by starting from the concrete reality lived by the researcher, which is placed in an
individual dimension (its teaching practice), but also collective (as community) in this
process, and in seeking to bring real experiences, with the interpretations and experiences
lived and thought by the people with whom it interacts in the school and in the community.
The theoretical reference of the Coexistence with the Semiarid and of the Field Education,
was possible by: Caldart (2002; 2009); Silva (2016; 2010); Finally, the results show that the
school has a fundamental role in raising awareness of these productive practices, in order to
stimulate the locality development, awakened in the students, leadership and stimulate the
search for better living conditions and the struggle for their rights.
