Resumo:
The present article seeks to address an alternative to the contextualized teaching of mathematics with students of the third year of secondary education in the State School of Elementary and Secondary Education Maria Balbina Pereira in the district of Santa Luzia do Cariri, in the city of Serra Branca, State of Paraíba. In order to do so, we sought an interdisciplinary perspective, considering the context and daily life of those involved in the research, debating the problems that involve the water crisis in the Western Cariri of Paraíba as a region belonging to the northeastern semi-arid region and the construction of cement plate cisterns as technology social interaction with drought. The purpose of this study was to propose facilitating, consistent and contextualized actions for the teaching / learning of the mathematical curricular component. The methodology used was based on the bibliographic review, the case study and the application of quantitative and qualitative research. As results of this work, we understand that, for the teaching of mathematics, it is increasingly necessary to contextualize science as the daily life of the student, and in this case debating mechanisms of conservation and storage of water as an essential action for the survival of living beings. Therefore, it is necessary to articulate the school with social practices in order to mobilize an educational process that is also based on local realities.
