Resumen:
The starting point of this work was to investigate whether within the Teaching Formation in
the Geography Degree Course of the Center for Teacher Education (CFP), Campus of
Cajazeiras-PB, it offers possibilities for the students in training to experience their
experiences and empirical knowledge through of contextualized education. To reach our
general objective is to identify whether there is concern in education in Geography at the
CFP/UFCG that there is concern about contextualized education and how it occurs in practice.
We adopt as specific objectives: to reflect on the teacher training in a Higher Education
Institution (HEI) that has as its main characteristic the teacher training of teachers; understand
how the students of the Degree in Geography experience contextualized education within the
vocational training course; to identify the place of the students in the teacher training in the
degree course in geography. The temporal cut of the study occurred between 07/07/2017 and
07/25/2017 for the period 2017.1, when we concluded our research together with the subjects
who were the students from the third to the tenth period of said course, morning and evening,
the research was carried out with 100 students. For this, the study has a qualitative and
quantitative character, which is developed from the application of questionnaires, which
resulted in tabulations of the information, elaboration of graphs, tables and data analysis. In
this way, through the data obtained, it was possible to verify the reasons in which the students
in formation chose the course of teachers, it was also noticed that many of the students in
Geography do not feel prepared to teach from the contextualized education, and that in the
vision of the students, the vocational course should have classes and debates about education
for diversity. In the course of the research, we conclude that within the training course of
teachers in geography there are gaps to be filled in what concerns the teaching of
contextualized education, a teaching that allows the students in formation to interpret
geography within the social and cultural aspects of their experiences as active subjects of the
history of the place where they live, taking as a starting point the contextualization of classes
at the University with emphasis on basic education, an essential dialogue for the training of
future teachers of geography.
