Abstract

The present work, in its support, presents theoretical - methodological questions of how the fair has been developing and resisting over the years, in the face of new forms of imposed by capitalism. Thus, the work is based on a case study of the city of Barro, Ceará, which in the last 15 years temporal) have suffered considerable shrinkage, but somehow resists forms of competitiveness. Having as a general objective, to investigate the retraction factors and the strategies of resistance of the free fair of the city of the Barro-CE. We will tackle at work issues such as the trajectory of the fair, showing its insertion in the lower economy circuit, following its temporal history, from the macro to the micro, thus showing its importance for local economy and its role in urban development, starting with the relation of those who make the fair, as consumers, marketers and fixed merchants. For to finish the discussion, we will show the forms of resistance found in it, where we bring factors that cause it to recede and how it has been facing this problem. The search was developed in the period from October 2017 until February 2018, where they were analyzed, interviews, questionnaires, demographic data of the municipality, through the of fifty involved, being they, fairgrounds, consumers and merchants. fixed.
