Resumo:
The present article has as general objective to show the use of the geometry and its contributions
to the semiarid. The present research presents several mechanisms, in which geometry is
present, contributing in a significant way to the resolution and / or mitigation of problems
related to the daily life of the people of the northeast, especially with regard to the scarcity of
water resources, with the sustainable use of the few resources available. For the accomplishment
of this study, a bibliographical research was promoted from diverse theorists, that approach not
only the geometry with also the contributions that this can give to the different sectors and
human activities. In order to do so, it was tried to show with the geometry it is present in the
main initiatives of production and improvement of the quality of life of the population of the
semiarid, facilitating the conviviality in this region, like the dams, plate cisterns and
underground dams, which make it possible to store water and to alleviate the situation of the
scarcity of water resources. An example of sustainable initiatives and agricultural practices
focused on soil preservation are also presented in this paper, revealing how the semi-arid region
has sought to implement sustainable local development strategies over the years.
