Resumo:
This research had as main objective to describe the trajectories and motivations of the candidates to the alderman of the coalition led by the Popular Socialist Party (PPS) in the city of Campina Grande, PB, in 2016. With the aim of elucidating and, at the same time, answering the research problem, a structured questionnaire with objective and discursive questions was developed, along with quantitative category analysis. This questionnaire was applied to the city council candidates from the aforementioned coalition, which volunteered to participate in the research. The questionnaire was applied during the election period, between August 18th and September 30th. The interest in the study of the history and the profile of these individuals is justified by the importance that the legislator has in the performance of public management. This research is also a case study, in which candidates with multiple paths, driven by several factors, form a framework of potential political agents without the necessary support of social sectors and without clear causes that can delineate the work of parliamentary representation.
