Abstract:
The goal of this work was to implant an agroecological vegetable garden in the public high
school located in the municipality of São Domingos-PB. It's a study about descriptive
character, exploratory and analytical, having as population 120 students, 16 teachers, 08
auxiliary services, 04 guards, 01 disciplinary, 01 educational supervisor, 01 director and 02
secretaries. Concluding the total of 153 people. The sample was composed by 100% of the participants that disposed to be part of the study, attending to the criteria of Inclusion and Exclusion. The research was submitted to the Ethics Committee and it's endorsed in
Resolution 466/2012 of the National Health Council, approved under nº 853.763. The
method used for collection was divided in steps. The procedure analysis was performed
through simple Descriptive Statistics and grounded to the light of the relevant literature. The results of the benefits show that, with the vegetable garden, it may reduce the waste of rational use of water, the cost of meals; it favors the interdisciplinarity, knowledge about the process of composting and sustainability. The vegetable garden offered, for both the students and the teacher, a laboratory of searches and learning with information and practice, and it encouraged to valorize the environment. In addition, it is an excellent pedagogical tool and makes students aware to have healthy eating habits.
