The increasing search for competitive advantage has made companies increasingly seek, reduce costs, eliminate waste, increase the variety of their products and have agility in the delivery of orders. In the market for food products in Brazil, this reality is no different, in view of the adoption of the Toyota Production System (STP) and more specifically one of its tools, the Rapid Tool Exchange (TRF) methodology, used to reduce time Of setup, emerges as a strong ally in regard to the achievement of the aforementioned objectives. In this context, companies have sought to invest efforts to develop projects and projects in this area, in view of the benefits that can be obtained with the application of the TRF methodology. The work in question a case study composed of the stages of application of the Rapid Change Tools in a production line of a Brazilian food industry, such application resulted in a significant reduction of setup time. The main result was reduction of 53% of the total setup time, of 45 minutes (average of three months prior to application of TRF) to approximately 21 minutes (mean of two months post application of TRF), which would provide a productivity gain of about 1.896 tonnes more per year.
