Resumen:
The objective of this study is to analyze the dynamics of homicidal violence in the Brazil Paraiba State from 2000 to 2014, emphasizing the last four years analyzed and highlighting the explanatory variables for the phenomenon. The research is divided into three parts: The first account with a literature review that addresses violence at the national level; The second contextualizes and characterizes the violence in the State, making the crossing of data such as socioeconomic indexes; And the third and final chapter focuses on the above mentioned public policy diagnosis, seeking to identify the outstanding actions carried out in the program between the period of 2011 to 2014. For this, the quantitative method was used with descriptive data analysis and simple statistical tests for Measure the level of inference about the hypotheses created in the study. The results of the research demonstrated: 1. The profile of the victim and the homicide are similar; 2. The higher the level of educational instruction of the individual, the lower the probability of insertion into crime; 3. Social conditions have improved while the outlook for violence has increased in the state; 4. Four years before Paraíba United for Peace, absolute homicide numbers grew more than 64%, and four years after those figures fell by 18%; 5. The growing number of firearms seizures has shown a strong correlation in the fight against homicidal violence; 6. The prison population is mainly concentrated in individuals who have committed crimes against property.
