Abstract:
This work aims to discuss and understand how the teachers of the EJA teaching modality, in the discipline of sociology, uses the textbook. In order to understand the teaching / learning of the students. It was a qualitative research using the following techniques, questionnaire, interviews, participant observations, informal conversations, with the students and teachers. The classes of the teachers of the sociology discipline were analyzed, and a questionnaire was applied with the students of this modality of EJA high school on their understanding of sociological knowledge and what the use of the textbook provokes in these subjects, following as reference the work of Quézia Furtado, with the book "Production of Failure in the Process of Schooling" (2009), which analyzes school failure in the EJA modality. The results obtained were that the teacher who has as a help to teach the textbook the interaction and learning of the students and those who do not use the textbook frequently as a support for the classes can not interact with the as) students and little understanding of these subjects in the discipline of sociology. However, it was detected that in the EJA teaching modality, in the discipline of sociology the use of the textbook becomes essential to succeed in teaching.
