This paper seeks to present the representations of Sociology teaching through the conceptions of the students of a secondary school of Sumé - PB. The general objective of this work is to understand the representations in the Teaching of Sociology by students of a State School on the county of Sumé - PB. The study assumed an exploratory character, through a qualitative approach, having of the data collection instrument a semi-structured interview with ten (10) students of the 3rd year of high school in the "A" and "E" classes. At the end of the data collection, they were submitted to analysis following the steps proposed by Minayo (2012). The results were presented in two categories: Conception of the students in relation to the discipline of Sociology and Conception of the students the methodological strategies. The study showed that Sociology gives students the ability to reflect social reality, as well as enables a critical look to interpret everyday issues. The results showed that the concepts of the classical authors of Sociology are the most worked by the teacher, that students prefer strategies that use visual resources, interaction dynamics and the framework through explanatory schemes. However, even using other methodological strategies, the use of the textbook is still centralized.
