Resumo:
The implementation of the Dictatorial Policy in Brazil, in 1964, provoked a great transformation in the structure of the State, in what concerns a redefinition of its social role. It created a chasing and punitive atmosphere for the sectors and segments opposed to the Political Project for the Brazilian society, which obtained support from the military sectors and more conservative wings of the middle class, aligned itself internationally with the US in the context of the Cold War . The culmination of authoritarianism was established with the Decree on 12/13/68 of AI-5, one of the most arbitrary institutional acts on the Rights of Man and Citizen. The political and social repercussions were dense, generating a great malaise the National Democracy. Thus, the city of Cajazeiras-PB in this investigation will have an explanatory and demonstrative approach to the confrontation of the guidelines assumed by its officially instituted powers, passing through those of the opposition social segments. The aim of the Cajazeirenses' memory at this historical period, along with the object investigated, AI-5 was aimed at building an identity, local political culture, and consequently improved the insertion of the Cajazeiro community in the Paraíba historicity. By mapping for a short period (1964-1979), the political positions of our representatives in the political, legal and police spheres, as well as in the main social sectors conducive to fomenting and instigating discussions in the streets, classrooms, broader social spaces, aiming also to be the driving force of continuous systematized studies, correlated to this historical period.
