Resumo:
The textbook has become, in the present day, an indispensable instrument for the educator, failing to play the mere role of auxiliary in the school environment. And through it, the teacher plans and exercises his activities, often neglecting didactic options for teaching. Brazilian Prehistoric Archeology has advanced significantly in the understanding of primitive man, bringing the "light" knowledge previously inaccessible to researchers of the primitive way of life of the so-called "cave men." Becoming an important source of didactic support, mainly, to the teachers in the small cities of the interior of Brazil that in great majority need materials (be they physical or cultural) to diversify the classes of History. Our proposal and analyze the contents of prehistory in the main textbooks used by public school teachers, are either as consultation or adopted for the student, and it is necessary to know how the high school teacher understands the information about prehistory contained in the History textbook.
