Abstract:
Reading and the most important means for acquiring knowledge, and a basic instrument for the whole educational system. However, the pedagogical activity can not be limited to teaching to read and necessary that the student be led to create the habit by reading. But the act should begin to be stimulated early on by the family, giving the child an opportunity to manipulate children's books and hence familiarize themselves with their form and language. Like parents, school also plays a fundamental role in stimulating reading, often through the first contact with the book, and it is indispensable to make this moment as pleasant as possible to arouse the curiosity of knowing this magical world. Motivation for reading can be an internal process, an impulse by which the person is instigated by the action, but it can also be triggered by external factors such as the reading room, library, and more boldly transforming the school into a place where the individual can experience, develop and confer their reader skills, being able to attribute meaning to what they. The present study aims to reflect on the adoption of cordel literature as a genre that facilitates reading as well as the possibility of expanding personal, cultural and professional horizons in order to contribute to innovative practices in reading work in schools.
