A evolução dos verbos latinos vedar e aduzir em sentenças: Um estudo de caso.

Abstract

This study, made from an analyze of Juridical Sentences proceeded from Tribunal de Justica of the State of Paraiba, it is about the evolution of two recurrent Latin verbs in legal language of Paraiba: the verbs vedar (prohibit, stanch) and aduzir (adduce). We also present a concise panorama of a functionalist proposal, and trough a functional analyze it ascertains the use of these verbs in the formation of legal speech and its importance in the historic evolution of language. Considering the importance of the Portuguese language historic evolution we try to answer the following questions: Why are the Latin verbs vedar and aduzir recurrent in the construction of legal sentences, considering the argumentative value they represent? How and why do the processes of transformation or conservation of semantics of these verbs happen over time? We lookout the specific functionality of the textual genre civil sentence, its characteristics and peculiarities as a written genre and specific of the legal discursive domain. This study notes that these two verbs assume specific functions in the sentences and that they play specific roles in this textual genre formation.
